Outreach and Out-of-box thinking

This program featured rapid-fire presentations on programs related to outreach. The best by far was Glendale Public Library's Little Free Library project. They created 4 LFLs in the city, starting by registering at Littlefreelibrary.org.  They seemed like they did lots of things right including researchig the best places for LFLs (high traffic, well lit, where ppl want to read), holding kickoff events, inviting the media, including important local stakeholders, using the LFLs to promote other library services and programs, and just having fun and a good sense of humor.  They even had a birthday party for one of their LFLs when it turned 1.

  1. Would love to see some Little Free Libraries in town and was thinking parks could be good locations, maybe Heritage, Etiwanda Creek, Central Park and the new one in the south part of town.

  2. I don't know if they discussed it, but they even created original artwork for all the LFLs by the guy in the middle, with a step by step on what it is, how it gets used, etc.
