Becoming a marketing superstar learn from this year's PR excellence award winners

November 6, 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM
sponsored by CLA's marketing and public relations interest group.

This year there were eight of this years PR excellence award winners showcasing their award winning projects. Several of them rushed through their presentations due to initial technical difficulties which was disappointing.

The most entertaining award winner was the Placentia Library District's award in the electronic category which was their music video with The song happy by for Pharrell  Williams. The video showed a variety of businesses in their community, library staff, City Council, Rotary club, School groups, Friends of the Library all dancing around with books and semi choreographed dance routines holding books. It cost $2600 and was used for marketing their Summer Reading Program. Some of the businesses and community groups paid $100 to participate in the video which helped with the cost.

One of the other notable award winners was Monterey County Free Libraries. Their project was the "County employees summer reading program" which marketed library services to their own county employees who really hadn't a clue about what types of  services and programs are available at their libraries. Their program consisted of 6 weeks of contacting county employees via email and city's intranet. Library Director Jayanti Addleman reported that this was a very popular campaign which included trivia contests.

  1. What I want to know is if there were dancers and a flutist in between the awards.
