Another fun outreach program was Palos Verdes Library District geogaching program. As part of the 75 anniversary of one of the cities in the district, the local history librarian generated a geogaching activity involving 4 geogached boxes around the Peninsula. Staff took a local geogaching workshop in order to learn how and they were on their way. Apparently geographers are a tight-knit and passionate group so they got great feedback from that community, including info about whether the boxes they hid were misplaced or damaged, etc. The items they hid were mostly images from the city's archives including historical tidbits and trivia. Overall a cool idea and well-executed project.
